Our Senior Women squad consists of rowers age 14 plus who train and race in a variety of sweep and scull boats. We train up to six mornings a week over summer and winter at our clubrooms on the Torrens and on the water from our West Lakes sheds. Winter training has a gym and ergo focus, while summer training has a strong on water focus.
Training is dependent on the level of commitment our rowers are willing to put into the sport and their goals each season. We welcome both rowers who wish to train less often and race in only local regattas and also rowers who wish to train more intensively and compete at State and National Championships.
Our rowers have represented the club at State and National Championships, Intervarsity Championships, Transtasman University Regatta, Youth Cup and Junior/U23 World Championships.
Each year the squad competes at a number of regattas in Adelaide as well several country regattas. We travel to Berri/Renmark for their weekend regatta in December and Mannum and Murray Bridge for single day regattas. Last year we also sent a Senior Women’s and Junior Women’s eight to the Head of the Yarra Regatta in Melbourne.
The squad has a great social aspect and we have several social events throughout the season including our season opening day, Christmas function, Annual Dinner, cocktail party and regular drinks at the clubrooms.
